InLab: New Media
July 10th to August 1st Opening reception July 10th 3pm - 6pm
Watch where you step this month as your actions will lead to electronic reactions in Vlepo Gallery’s INLab New Media show July 10th through August 1st. Six new media artists, recent graduates of the MFA program of Computer Arts at the School of Visual Arts have created interactive mechanisms and environments to be completed only with the physical presence of a person, in this case, the gallery patron. “Wait” is evoked as the sensors wait for patron-emitted sounds, physical presence, and/or movement. Silently, the computer constantly queries the sensors for the human signals that will activate an event. Surveying the seemingly dormant scenarios,
a sleeping-beauty like sense of expectation is evoked. The stage is set, on call to receive the participants that will synthesize an interactive art act. The artists featured in the INLab show are Paloma Campo, EunJoo Shin, Frank Lee, Mireia Feliu-Fabra, Hee Kyoung Song, Carola Cintron Moscoso.
