BEDEL TISCARENO: KRIEGSPIEL

VLEPO Gallery is pleased to present Kriegspiel, an exhibition of oil paintings created by Bedel Tiscareno, opening August 2nd and on view through August 31st. Opening reception will be on August 6th from 3 to 6pm.
Tiscareno's paintings are best known for their figurative compositions of traditional realist narratives, postmodernly broken-up. Kriegspiel (a military tactical training game played on a map or miniature battlefield) is presented here as a work-in-progress. This project portrays the world of spin-doctors, political anachronisms, and misinformation pervading mediated communications. Portraits of political figures are punctuated by fantastical battlefield paintings where good and evildoers, cops, robbers, cowboys and Indians wage a saccharine, benevolent war in which no one really dies.
